New York City Sanitation Department (DSNY) collection trucks sporting their new 0X30 signage on 5th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Looking good trucks, looking good! I wonder what the sanitation workers think about the OX30 goal and how it impacts their work, current and future. I hope they are included in the conversations with the DSNY on how to achieve this goal and what its impacts will be. San Francisco is way ahead of NYC on landfill diversion. Hopefully New Yorkers will soon start to change their habits to achieve a better, more sustainable ecological footprint. Public policy, retailers and producers all need to be involved in the conversation for rethinking consumption and disposal. Let's hope NYC leads the way and sets a good example for the rest of the country as transitioning to a zero waste municipality becomes an imperative.
